Explanation: Over your extended break you will write a story (narrative).

A narrative is when you tell a story about your experience or event whether it be true or false.

Background: Hurricanes are very dangerous storms that start in oceans. They can destroy homes cause floods.

In the last couple of weeks in the United States we have had two big hurricanes named Harvey and Irma. Lots of people were in the hurricane. In Atlanta Hurricane Irma caused trees to fall down, electricity to go out and even damaged some houses.

Prompts: Choose one of the prompts below to write your narrative story.

#1- Write a story about you and your family’s experience in hurricane.

#2- Imagine you lived in Savannah near the beach. Write a story about you and your family’s experience in the hurricane.

Explanation: Over your extended break you will complete a narrative writing assignment.

A narrative essay is when you tell a story about your experience or event whether it be true or fictions in nature.

Background: Hurricanes are very dangerous storms that develop over large bodies of water and can cause lots of damage to homes and the land that we inhabit. In the pass weeks in the United States we have experienced two major hurricanes, Harvey and currently Irma. Many people were in the direct path of the hurricanes and experienced flooding, power outages, loss of property and even death. As the days pass residents of the hardest hit areas will return home to evaluate the damage and move forward with life. Students will return to school and life will resume but maybe not as normal for those affected by the hurricane.

Prompts: Choose one of the prompts below to write your narrative essay.

#1- As the sun peaks from behind the clouds and all the water dries up think about your personal experience during the hurricane. Write a narrative that tells you and your family’s journey through hurricane Irma.

#2- As the sun peaks from behind the clouds and all the water dries up imagine you lived in coastal Georgia where Hurricane Irma hit harder than the metropolitan Atlanta area. Create a story that would tell about you and your family’s experiences.
